Every makeup artist needs a good, clear gloss in their pro kit. For editorial looks, DIY highlighter or simply just as a lip gloss. Is the Linda Hallberg Infinity Glass going to make it into my pro MUA bag?

I think the best way to do this, is just to go though all claims one by one. That way you can form your own opinion at the end.

1. Linda Hallberg Infinity Glass as a primer for dry skin

I have combination skin. The back of my nose and my chin are oily, but the rest of my face is pretty dry. Especially now, in winter.

Here is a picture comparing the left side, where Infinity Glass is applied, with the right side, without Infinity Glass.

I don’t like the feeling of the gel on my skin at all. It is not really sticky, but very thick and occlusive, not unlike Vaseline. Of course it does not absorb into the skin and stays on top of the skin like a shiny film at all times. I did not notice a difference in the dryness around my nose after using this as a primer. My pores look exactly the same as well.

After applying Infinity Glass as a primer, I applied foundation on top of it (Inglot HD Perfect Coverup). I saw no noticeable difference in the two sides of my face.

The side with the gloss is maybe a little more glowy than the other side, but the difference is not very strong.

2. Infinity Glass mixed in with foundation for more glow

When this product was presented by Linda Hallberg, she said you could use it as a mixing medium in foundation to make it more dewy/glowy.

This is what it looked like on my face:

The Glass made the matte Inglot foundation pretty dewy! I think I actually mixed in a little too much (ratio of about 1:3), because I was as shiny as a disco ball. Surprisingly it did not change the coverage of the foundation by very much. It does decrease the durability of the make up though. My pores seem worse on the side with the Infinity Glass, but that is due to the reflection of the light.

3. Infinity Glass as a face, lip & eye gloss

You can see what the Infinity Glass looks like on my face, lips and eyes in the following Video:

Unfortunately it is only available in German, but you can see the application (and the end result) starting at 05:25.

  • Face: It looks great on the cheek bones! Very glossy, shiny and dewy. Of all places, it lasts the longest here. Not suitable for open hair styles though. If you are careful when applying, it does not move product underneath around.
  • Lips: the gel transforms a very matte liquid lipstick into a shiny gloss very quickly. It feels very comfortable on the lips, almost like a lip balm. However it does not last a very long time on the lips (or anywhere else). It is very easy to mix with pigment or creams before applying to the face.
  • Eyes: Looks great! Lasts about 2 minutes though, before creasing. So it’s great for picture, but that’s it. People who have less hooded eyes than me can probably get a longer wear time out of it, but don’t expect miracles.

4. Is the Linda Hallberg Infinity Glass light on the skin?

I don’t like the feeling of the gel on my skin, BUT it is lighter than other glosses I’ve tried. Like for example the MAC LigGlass in Clear.

I like the feeling of the Lip Glass on my lips. It is very similar to the Inglot Sleeks Lip Goss in 29A.

5. Is it free from oil and fragrance?

There are only three ingredients

  • Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin): Olefin Polymer; soothing to the skin, smoothes, regulates viscosity
  • Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer: thickening agent
  • Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-t-Butyl Hydroxyhydro-cinnamate: antioxidant

So yes, the Infinity Glass is free from oil and fragrance.

6. Does the gel dry?

It doesn’t really dry, but it does come off the skin very easily. So even if it doesn’t dry, the skin does not stay glowy and dewy for a very long time.

When I mixed it into my foundation, I absolutely could not touch my face afterwards, because the foundation would transfer like crazy. So like any face gloss, this is not made for everyday use. On the eyes it creased after a short amount of time and it was gone from the lips in about 10-20 minutes. The lips did feel very hydrated afterwards though.

So no, the gel does not dry, but I don’t really see an advantage to this or why this is a marketing point. That is a normal property of a gloss.

7. Is Infinity Glass sticky?

I can answer this with a clear “yes”. It is less sticky than other glosses, like my favorite, the Danessa Myricks Colorfix Glaze in Clear. However your hair is still going to get stuck in it, just like in any other gloss. The advantage of the Infinity Glass is, that it feels like a balm on the lips, since it is less sticky that its counterparts.

My conclusion

I think the Linda Hallberg Infinity Glass is not a good primer. You have the possibility to make a matte foundation dewy with it, but since it then transfers a lot, it is not for everyday use. But it’s great for an editorial shoot.

The Glass looks amazing, but only for a short time. It is nicer feeling than other glosses, but it is not an innovative new product that makes face gloss suitable for normal wear.

Am I going to repurchase when this tube is empty? No, probably not. For editorial shoots, I am sticking with my Danessa Myricks Colorfix Glaze, solely because it has a nicer design for packing in my pro kit (it’s smaller lol).
